The lights are on
Update: Here's further proof that 2K Games and Gearbox are indeed prepping a Game of the Year Edition for Borderlands 2.
An unnamed source sent us along this photo of the same marketing booklet that IGN had.
Borderlands 2 hasn't skimped on the DLC and extra content, and if this report is any indication, anyone who hasn't picked up the game yet will be in for a feast.
IGN has received a picture of a marketing booklet from a GameStop employee [full disclosure: Game Informer is owned by GameStop] that apparently shows off the Borderlands 2 Game of the Year Edition.
It would include the four major DLC content releases for the title, as well as the Mechromancer pre-order bonus, the raised level cap that comes with the Ultimate Vault Hunter Pack, and more.
No price or release date details were given.
Our TakeIf this is correct, this GOTY edition packs in a lot of content. I hope that it also, however, includes some new content that would make it more alluring to anyone who hasn't already bought the DLC. Perhaps the already announced T.K. Baha's Bloody Harvest will be included. To anyone who bought the season pass for this game: Do you think you should have waited for something like this all-in-one GOTY edition, or are you happy you got your hands on the content early?
Email the author Matthew Kato, or follow on Twitter, and Game Informer.
If the Vita version, which should absolutely by the GOTY Edition, supports cross-play with the 2 player split-screen on the PS3, then I will gladly buy a vita, this game, and this game on PS3. Please let it be so!
Nice. Too bad I have most of the DLC's and I've beaten the game many times.
Yes, that's what I've been waiting for. I knew they would do a GOTY so I waited. Hopefully the DLC will be on disc and not just redeemable codes.
This sounds like an awesome deal, it kind of sucks that I already paid full price for like everything else already though.
Great game franchise which for the most part is worth getting when it hits the shelves. I would never say the frugal gamer is wrong to wait, it makes sense to get the whole bundle for less, but it sucks to be the player sitting around listening to your pals talk up a great game you will get 9 months later!
Well, this is what I've been waiting for. I got it when it first came out but the only DLC I had ever used was the Mechromancer, been saving my money by waiting for this.
I would get this if i didn't already own the game. PS3 version will probably have everything on disc, and i have a ps3. If not, then i will get it.
I haven't played it yet- a GOTY edition is a perfect excuse to pick it up!
For people interested in this series, don't play BL2 right after BL1. Playing and completing every quest in the game in the first game then the second is very repetitive. I think I ruined the series for me doing that :/
im just happy I got it early, borderlands is my favorite series and I just couldn't wait a year for all the dlc and extra characters to come out.
Well considering I havent picked up borderlands 2 yet...I suppose this is perfect for me.
I will probably be picking up this edition at some point (I wanted Borderlands 2 I just never got around to buying it).
I thought they were going to release more DLC? Shouldn't they wait until they release everything? I bought the game a couple of months ago for like 25 bucks, and although i really want to play the DLC there's no way i'm paying 30 bucks for the season pass. Hopefully they drop the price of the season pass :/
If this is the edition that comes to vita, I'm getin it!
I was happy to get it at launch and I enjoyed playing most of the dlc when it came out, but I am burned out on BL2 after eight playthroughs, so I am not interested in any further dlc for the game.
