Elder Scrolls Online Chooses Monthly Subscription Model
The game director at Elder Scrolls Online developer ZeniMax Online Studios has announced that the MMO will follow a monthly subscription model.
In an interview with GameStar, Matt Firor, game director at ZeniMax Online Studios, confirmed that players will have unlimited access to the game for free for the first 30 days after you buy the game. At the end of that time, you'll pay $14.99 per month for the game.
"Charging a flat monthly (or subscription) fee means that we will offer players the game we set out to make, and the one that fans want to play," Firor said. "Going with any other model meant that we would have to make sacrifices and changes we weren't willing to make."
Firor also mentioned that the company would announce discount opportunities in the future, such as decreased per-month cost if you buy multiple months at a time.
