The lights are on
Microsoft corporate vice president Phil Harrison is underlining the company's support of the new Kinect with Xbox One. According to an interview with CVG, Harrison dashes the hopes of fans holding out for a cheaper, Kinect-free Xbox One bundle.
When asked if the Xbox One will always come with a Kinect, Harrison responds, "Correct. Xbox One is Kinect. They are not separate systems. An Xbox One has chips, it has memory, it has Blu-ray, it has Kinect, it has a controller. These are all part of the platform ecosystem."
Check out the full interview on a variety of topics including Microsoft's reversal of several Xbox One policies, the possibility of a pack-in game in North America, and the lack of a firm Xbox One release date.
Our Take:This seems like a very definitive choice that Microsoft is making, especially since it's already confirmed that the Xbox One will work without a Kinect plugged in. Past console launches have taken advantage of separate SKUs at different price points with different features. Even though Microsoft seems to be firm on this, it has gone back on plenty of Xbox One policies already. I wouldn't give up hope on a Kinect-free bundle just yet. It may take a year or two, but I think there's a chance.

kinect can read a persons heart rate right.. so imagine you're in a final in fifa and kinect knows your heart is beating fast.. your a bit nervous and that makes your players shot and passes less acurate.. well that all i can come up with
That's great news.
I'm glad they are keeping the Kinect! My Fantasy Football season is going to be off the hook! I can now see the expression on people's faces when my team takes home the Championship! Not to mention hanging in the lobby talking crap face to face while the next game or map loads in NBA2k14 and COD Ghosts. I bet its pimple face geeks with zero real life friends that are the ones upset. I'm going to be interrupting a lot of my female friends Zumba fitness sessions just so I can watch them workout while I watch tv or surf the net haha!
I can see the future of Xbox One. It will share the same fate as HD-DVD.
Another golden opportunity to switch from their original statement.
Everything I have read about Kinect 2.0 has been very positive, so I'm not too bummed out about this.
After a long round of complains and whining, I've come to think this is actually a good thing. In fact, PS toy can benefit from this.
Kinect 2 offers bigger opportunities that little have to do with using the camera as a controller. Don't miss the big picture. Call me a fanboy, a spinner or whatever, but the fact is now bundled, though expensive and pointless at first, can be really good as time goes and developers decide to take the stakes.
Okay well then *** it
Looks like i'm not getting an xbox one then.
I think that sticking to their guns is a good thing.
What if a million people buy Xbox One, and then they all smash their mandatory Kinect 2.0`s on YouTube? LMFAO...
Kinect Included? not for long.
