The lights are on
Microsoft corporate vice president Phil Harrison is underlining the company's support of the new Kinect with Xbox One. According to an interview with CVG, Harrison dashes the hopes of fans holding out for a cheaper, Kinect-free Xbox One bundle.
When asked if the Xbox One will always come with a Kinect, Harrison responds, "Correct. Xbox One is Kinect. They are not separate systems. An Xbox One has chips, it has memory, it has Blu-ray, it has Kinect, it has a controller. These are all part of the platform ecosystem."
Check out the full interview on a variety of topics including Microsoft's reversal of several Xbox One policies, the possibility of a pack-in game in North America, and the lack of a firm Xbox One release date.
Our Take:This seems like a very definitive choice that Microsoft is making, especially since it's already confirmed that the Xbox One will work without a Kinect plugged in. Past console launches have taken advantage of separate SKUs at different price points with different features. Even though Microsoft seems to be firm on this, it has gone back on plenty of Xbox One policies already. I wouldn't give up hope on a Kinect-free bundle just yet. It may take a year or two, but I think there's a chance.

Yeah, right. Just wait until next week when Microsoft goes back on its word and makes a bundle without Kinect. Make up your mind and stand by your decisions.
I guess I'm never getting an Xbox One then.
Yeah, because Microsoft has been very consistent in their words and actions over the past few months.
so since u r forcing the garbage of those of us who dont want it, how about fixing your price to make it more mainstream and affordable??? dumb ass people....ill get a ps4 first and the xbox will have to wait for a price cut
Well I don't think I can wait that long for a possible chance of Microsoft removing the Kinect. Man Microsoft is just making this a painful trip to the release of the X-Box One, but I'll still hope the exclusives are worth it later down the road...
It's no different that the WiiU they don't come with out the tablet thing. It makes perfect seance that Xbox will have Kinect it has become part of my 360 Setup and will be part of my Xbox One setup.
HE is Expendable just like the last guy that got Fired. Keep talking poo and you will be gone in a NewYork Second b*tch.
My kids like the Kinect and its pretty fun for family stuff but I haven't found a use for it in hardcore games.
That's unfortunate. I can go get a PS4 for $100 cheaper without buying something I'll never use.
So in other words they don't care about the fans or sales got it.
