Soccer Legends For FIFA 14's Ultimate Team Mode

by Matthew Kato on Aug 20, 2013 at 05:10 AM

EA Sports announced a boost to the already popular FIFA Ultimate team mode; revealing 42 legends for the mode on Microsoft's consoles.

Soccer legends through different eras of the sport (although mainly concentrated in recent memory) will be available in card packs as well as through auctions, and they'll have their requisite game-defining skills and naturally be immortalized in Legendary-grade cards. While in the mode, EA says that there will be some tournaments that require a Legendary card in your lineup.

One of them, Lothar Matthaus (who won a World Cup with West Germany in 1990), joined David Rutter, the game's executive producer, on stage today at Gamescom. Other players include Pele, Crespo, Ruud Van Nistelrooy, Marco van Basten, Robbie Fowler, and more.

These legends will be exclusive for the Xbox 360 and Xbox One. Marcel Kuhn, associate producer for the mode, told us this exclusive period will last "for the full FIFA 14 cycle."

FIFA 14 comes out on September 27 for the Xbox 360, and at a later date this year for Xbox One.
