The lights are on
Microsoft and Mojang announced this morning a new multi-platform, 2D shooter called Cobalt. A short clip of the game was shown, making it look like a competitive multiplayer title. The graphics are reminiscent of the 16-bit era.
We'll have more on Cobalt soon from Gamescom 2013.

Neat, can't wait to try it out!
this game is already in alpha for pc
Ugh, need more info Mike!!
The game is basically Tower Fall, a MP platformer-shooter without any online multiplayer support... it is smart that they're bringing it to Xbox, since that decision made absolutely no sense for a PC... I don't know anyone who has a big screen, four controllers, and a couch setup to play games games on their PC like that.
Oh great. We're playing on the most cutting edge consoles to date, and the graphics are 'reminiscent of the 16-bit era."
If I ever want to play 16-bit games, I'll play them on my 16-bit consoles. I'm just as inclined to nostalgia out as any gamer, but I've already been to the past, and I'm sick of this ghetto-graphics revival. Just because we all agree there should be a focus on better games over the best graphics doesn't mean I want to spend the rest of my life playing games that look like the original FF titles.
