The lights are on
It probably won't apply to a lot of you, but if you happen to buy one of a selected handful of games on your PS3 and then want to get the PS4 copy of that same game, Sony and its partners are going to make it worth your while.
During its Gamescom press conference, Sony announced that for cross-generational games like Call of Duty: Ghosts, Watch Dogs, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag, and Battlefield 4, if you buy the PS3 version, for a limited time Sony will let you buy the digital PS4 version for a "significantly discounted price."
The company didn't say how much or for how long, and other details will be revealed in the future.
[Note: The story was edited to say it's the digital PS4 version.]

Yeah so the only reason I can think of as to why people would do this is for a game like COD where hardcore fans will want to get an early start on their multiplayer rank to have an advantage over those who wait for the next gen. I'm looking forward to AC and Watchdogs but I'm not going to pay $60 on a version of a game that will be on a next gen for the same price.
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.
I wish this was a thing for PS3/Vita games that don't come with cross-buy. I would love to play Dragon's Crown on my Vita, in addition to my TV, but I'm not going to spend full price on the same game to do that.
Hope its less than 10$ if you already paid 60$ for it
I won't be buying a game on both generations for sure but for those who do end up doing so this is surely a relief.
Ps3 and Ps4 games cost the same. I'll save time and money by just getting the Ps4 one.
What about Madden25, Fifa14, & NBA2k14?
Do they let you buy the discounted version if you bought a physical copy?
They should just let you get it for free since you already purchased the game. It's not like the graphics are going to be that much different anyways because they never look that much better until the systems been out for a while. Also, you're paying the exact same price. Oh well, I won't be wasting my money doing this.
This is great...I buy the PS3 version for my brother and I get the PS4 version at a cheap price.
That's cool I guess. Don't know who would actually buy a game for both systems, but it would be useful if someone does.
That is a fantastic idea.
Won't be getting a PS4 right off the bat, but that isn't stopping me from picking up Watch Dogs on PS3!
