Konami Confirms Castlevania: Lords Of Shadow - Mirror Of Fate Getting HD Version

by Mike Futter on Aug 19, 2013 at 02:07 AM

If you missed Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate on 3DS, you're about to get a second chance. Konami has confirmed the title is getting a new coat of paint and a re-release on other platforms.

Konami will be celebrating Halloween in style, as Mirror of Fate HD will be released on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network on October 31. The title serves to fill in the story of the Belmont clan, with three different playable characters.

Players take control of Simon Belmont, Trevor Belmont, and Symphony of the Night star Alucard. We enjoyed the game on 3DS, and you can read our review to learn more about the title.

Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2, the final entry in the series coming from MercurySteam, will be out later this year. You can also read our review of the original Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.

Our Take
I love when publishers bring their handheld titles to other platforms, as it provides a wider audience for important series entries. Capcom released Resident Evil: Revelations (originally a 3DS title) on HD consoles, Square Enix is bringing two previously-handheld Kingdom Hearts games to PS3 this fall (although one is only arriving as a collection of cutscenes), and Konami has a track record of doing this with the Metal Gear Solid series. I haven't had the chance to play Mirror of Fate yet, and I'm looking forward to doing so in HD now.
