The lights are on
A community of fans, discontent with the lack of Morrowind in their Skyrim, is taking matters into their own hands, by rebuilding Morrowind with Skyrim's engine.
According to the project's website's FAQ, "[Skywind] is a non-commercial, fan made modification for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim that seeks to merge the amazing world of The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind with the enhanced graphics and capabilities of Skyrim's engine."
If you're interested in checking it out, version 0.8 is now available for public download.
This isn't the first project like this built by this community. Morroblivion, similarly, is a mod for the The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion engine that allows players to play Morrowind with the Obliviion engine.
There are a number of trailers showing off both mods on the community's YouTube page. The latest trailer for Skywind is below. Head to the Morroblivion.com to learn more about the project.

I love that you guys do articles on TES series and there mods, but I really think you guys should do a article on two mods for Morrowind.
The first mod is OpenMW. OpenMW is an attempt(likely to be done by the end of the year) to reimplement the popular role playing game Morrowind. It aims to be a fully playable, open source implementation of the game.
The Second mod is Tamriel Rebuilt. Have you ever dreamed of seeing the glorious capital city of Morrowind, or wanted to explore the dangerous homeland of the xenophobic Dres? Do you want to travel to the edges of the Argon Jungle, which few have survived? Or would you rather scale snowy mountains in search of Nords at the border of Skyrim?
Then enter Tamriel Rebuilt, the enormous effort of completing the province of Morrowind, piece by piece.
Our goal is to create the mainland area of Morrowind in a way truthful to the vision of Bethesda Softworks through the study of TES lore. We welcome all quality work contributed to our cause, from models to interiors, from music to quests!
They have already doubled the size of Morrowind. This is the longest and oldest running TES mod being developed. I highly reccommend you check out there Youtube Channel www.youtube.com/.../TamrielRebuilt
Didn't Bethesda already try to take this down?
Awesome looking mod with a trailer that has a Miracleofsound song in it.
I'm sold.
This mod looks pretty great. I'm just wondering how they'll translate the npc text of Morrowind to Skyrim's speech system.
Haha, this is even better than I expected.
This is awesome. GO GET EM FOLKS!!!!
Found this mod while browsing the internet. Freaking amazing, and will download when I get a chance to/when it's finished and has all the npcs/quests finished. Kinda annoyed that you have to own Morrowind, but I'd love to get a chance to play Morrowind on the reworked engine, as a never played it when it came out, and it would probably seem to dated at this point.
I'm so dope, I'm illegal in 55 states.
I will be playing the crap out of Edler Scrolls Online, but I'm still holding out hope that Bethesda will make The Elder Scrolls VI at least 2 players.
All I want is simple drop-in/drop-out co-op. It doesn't need to be complicated. Just like Fable or Dead Rising 2 style. They just come in to my world, have no effect on anything other than loot and enemies, and leave with everything they've gained. Sounds perfect to me.
Will the questgivers still give me directions that make me think I'm being sent off by a seven year old who doesn't actually know where he's going? If not, it's not the Morrowind I love.
Wow.
I remember one of the guys in that project being sad because it wasn't receiving too much attention. I for one have a lot of curiosity to watch the Scathing Bay, and the remains of the Almsivi cult. Hope they pull this up really nice.
Vivec and Balmora, here I come!!!
Looks beautiful! By the way, "Oblivion" has two "i's" not three.
