The lights are on
Next week, Gamescom will begin in Cologne, Germany, and it appears that Sony will be announcing a release date for the PlayStation 4.
In a post on the European PlayStation blog, Sony says that on August 20 at 6:00 pm BST on August 20 it will hold a briefing for media where it will share, "release plans for PlayStation 4, as well as updates on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita."

Our TakeIt will be entertaining to see how Xbox One and PlayStation 4 will compete for a release date in November. It's unclear when Xbox One's release date will be revealed, but this seems like a pretty strong indicator that Sony will reveal the PlayStation 4's very soon. When the PlayStation 3 and Wii launched, their release dates were only about a few days apart. I bet the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will have a comparable gap.

I was told at my local Gamestop that they would have all the details in hand Monday night! I plan on gonig down there so I can browse around and then find out how long to start my PS4 count do. Right before Thanksgiving is what I am hoping for, then I have a 5 day weekend to play it with no school.
Great! It will be nice to finally have a date so I can plan time off from work.
Huzzah! I can't wait!
It will a glorious day.
Well, we do know that it is going to be holiday, so I guess we could say Thanksgiving or Christmas. However, if Sony is feeling bold, they might do Late October to early November, but that is very unlikely.
I hope it is in late October cause my birthday is the 26th.
Cool! I just hope Microsoft follows close suit.
I'm surprised it's taken them this long.
Now all we need is Jack Tretton doing more magical stuff for the Playstation, I still get the chills when he suddenly announced that the PS4 will not include DRM crap haha!
My guess is the second week in November. That gives people enough time to get it for the black Friday sales. Though I personally would love to see it at the end of October, but I know that won't happen.
It'd be funnier if it was the same day.
Lucky coming Europe open store.
