Microsoft To Reveal New Exclusive At Gamescom

by Matt Helgeson on Aug 13, 2013 at 10:27 AM

In official Xbox blogger Major Nelson's new podcast, Microsoft Studios' head Phil Spencer said that the company has some big news planned for its Gamescom presentation.

In Major Nelson's podcast, Spencer said, "We're going to have a really short stage presentation with some news talking about some unique exclusive coming to [Xbox One]."

He also said that the company would be talking about "Europe's biggest franchise and maybe some interesting things there."

In addition, Microsoft will allow Gamescom attendees to play Forza 5, Dead Rising 3, Ryse, Killer Instinct, and Zoo Tycoon on the floor.

Our Take:
I'm not surprised that Microsoft saved some triple-A ammunition for Gamescom, a show that's grown to rival E3 in importance in the industry. I have no idea what this new exclusive could be; I hope it's new IP from a respected studio in Europe.

As for the second tease, the phrase "Europe's biggest franchise" leads me to believe that he's talking about EA Sport's FIFA, so maybe Microsoft has signed a deal for exclusive interactive content with FIFA as it did with the NFL in the U.S.?
