The lights are on
Q-Games, the developer behind the PixelJunk series of games, is bringing a collection of music visualizers to the PlayStation 3.
The app will be available on Tuesday, August 13 for a limited two-week price of $2.99. After that, the app will be $4.99. It will include six visualizers with names like Fibre, Alien Contact, and Conscious Thought.
On the PlayStation Blog posting for the new music application, Q-Games producer James Mielke says that the reason Q-Games was interested in creating a visualizer was born of PixelJunk's previous music visualizer application, PixelJunk 4am. PixelJunk 4am required a PlayStation Move and camera, limiting its user-base. This new visualizer app can be downloaded and used by anyone with a PlayStation 3.

Our TakeI really like music visualizers on the consoles. I took a lot of advantage of them when I first purchased my PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. When I first purchase the consoles, there's wasn't much do with them right away, so using them as music players was a good way to make me feel like I was getting my money's worth. I especially like the Gaia visualizer on PlayStation 3. I haven't really used them lately, though. Maybe a new batch of visualizers will reignite my interest.
