A Few New Details On The Legend Of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds

by Mike Futter on Aug 07, 2013 at 06:22 AM

In this morning's Nintendo Direct, president Satoru Iwata revealed some new details about the upcoming sequel to 1991's The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. In the brief segment, some of the most often posited questions were answered.

A Link Between Worlds takes place generations after A Link to the Past, meaning our hero isn't the same one who locked Ganon away. The world in which Link lives hasn't changed so much in the decades since that adventure. The Dark World, which has its own Triforce (possibly with different characteristics than Wisdom, Courage, and Power), has seen drastic changes.

Link accesses this land not via portals, but by moving through cracks in reality. By becoming a drawing on the wall, he can fit through this small crevasses.

The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds arrives on 3DS in November. As a reminder, the gorgeous HD remake of Wind Waker hits in October.

Our Take
Every time I see more information about A Link Between Worlds, my heart jumps. I've played no Zelda game more than A Link to the Past, and I cannot wait to revisit this version of Hyrule, even if it has undergone a number of changes since Ganon was locked away.
