The lights are on
During this year's QuakeCon, id Software co-founder Tim Willits said that Rage was not meant to be a one-off experience.
Speaking with Joystiq, Willits didn't announce any formal plans for a Rage sequel, but assured that the franchise has not been abandoned.
"I'm proud of what we did, I'm proud of the universe that we built. The franchise is not dead. We're not doing anything immediately with it, but when I designed the universe, I designed it in such a way that it would be easy to step back into. I'm still proud that we did something that was different – it wasn't like the games that we've done in the past."

Our TakeIn our review for the game, Andrew Reiner described the game's story and ending this way:
"Just when it seems this story might produce a meaty plot thread, the game ends unexpectedly with no major confrontation or sense of victory leading up to it. The best comparison I can think of is if Star Wars ended with Obi-Wan lowering the Death Star’s tractor beam. Roll credits."
The story and world proved to be the game's most disappointing aspect, and as such, we certainly wouldn't complain about id giving it another go. There's more that can happen in Rage's world, and after the first game's disappointing ending, we wouldn't mind diving back in.

it was a ton of fun!
This is good news, I thought this game had been forgotten about. I agree that the ending was awful, it was like having the last chapter of a book ripped out. Maybe they will get it right a second time around.
Yes, the ending sucked but that didn't destroy the entire game. Rage was pretty decent imo.
I loved the gameplay and weapons, and the AI was relentless.
The ending reminded me of the ending of Priest (which I would love to see a sequel to as well).
I like rage but the story sucked and the ending was really bad. But sometimes the story doesn't kill the game. I hope they add more and make the story better if they do a second rage.
I absolutely loved Rage outside of the ending. So I really hope that they do return to the IP. It had a lot of potential, and some of the best feeling FPS gameplay I've ever experienced.
I just couldn't get into Rage. There wasn't enough to do, and there weren't enough ways to kill your enemies. More weapons and missions would've kept me playing.
I'd have to agree, with how the game ended I want nothing more then to figure out what the hell resulted from my character doing what he did, how did society progress now that so much was available, how many of them will survive the coming years, or even days? To many questions brought up and left unanswered.
I loved the gameplay in rage, also the enemy types were great, but ya i do agree the ending sucked.
