The lights are on
Imagi Animation, the studio behind the 2007 TMNT and 2009 Astro Boy, wanted to make a Zelda movie, and it created a pitch video to show off its intentions.
Obviously, the film didn't movie forward. The pitch was directed by animator Adam Holmes, who posted the video on his online portfolio. You can check out the full video by heading here, as well as a comparison video showing off the storyboarding and final product below.

Our TakeThis short film is exciting, and it gives the Zelda universe an interesting art direction, but I don't want to see a Zelda animated film – or any Zelda film for that matter. I just don't see a game about exploration and environmental puzzle solving translating well into the film space. Combat could certainly translate well into a movie, but since that is the only aspect that would, a Zelda film would probably focus on that far too much, turning Link into Jedi with a steel blade.

damn Kyle. you make it sound like turning Link into a Jedi with a steel blade would be a bad thing. lol.
I actually kinda like the idea of a Zelda movie.
I just don't like the idea of the guys who made TMNT doing it.
I agree with Kyle, mostly because I hate the idea of Link getting a voice actor, and I do not see silent movie characters working out well.. Just keep it as a game, it has worked well thus far.
Wow! That's incredible! Although I agree with the GI editors, I don't want to see a Zelda film.
I have to agree with Mike. I really don't see the Zelda way of storytelling, where Link is a silent character and most of the interaction is implied, transitioning well to a movie. We all remember the Zelda cartoons...
