The lights are on
Ubisoft will unveil another new property for next-gen consoles at the upcoming game convention in Germany. The company has also said that it will be revealing a new, smaller scale IP called Child of Light (created by Ubisoft Montreal creative director Patrick Plourde) at the European GDC conference, which takes place before Gamescom. It's not clear whether or not this next-gen IP to be revealed at Gamescom is Child of Light or another, unknown game. According to Ubisoft's most recent financial earnings report, this game will not be out in the current fiscal year, which ends on March 31, 2014. This puts the new game out between April 2014 and March 2015.
[Source: CVG]Our TakeUbisoft has always had a good commitment to trying to create new franchises, with this fall's upcoming Watch Dogs as a good example. Child of Light sounds intriguing, but we do know that it's conceived as a more modest game made by a small team. A brand new triple-A surprise announcement at Gamescom would be exciting indeed. Here's to hoping.

hope its something good...
Honestly, if it's that far away, I don't really care right now.
Child of Light. The name sounds more of a RPG or casual game than anything. I would love to see Ubisoft support some JRPGs in the future. Or any RPG as matter of fact. Off the top of my my head I can't think of any they've published/developed so far. There's no denying that Ubi is on top of the world going into next gen though.
Man Ubisoft is embracing the hell out of the next cycle. They already have Watch Dogs, The Division, The Crew coming out. Not to mention Rayman Legends, AC IV, probably a new Far Cry/Blood Dragon game and now Child of Light and a new IP? I know they are a large publisher but it seems like they are working on a lot of different things right now.
Awesome. Can't wait to see what is in store for us!
I wang watch dogs and the division first ubisoft
I'd like to see ubisoft come out with something similar to fc3. doesn't even need to be open world or have any rpg elements. If they took the intense fps action and put it into another game it would be joy ride. (nothing against fc3 its probably one of my favorites. I loved everything)
