The lights are on
One of the Xbox One's most subtle (yet crucial) features is a revamped matchmaking system called Smart Match. In response to the community requesting more information, Microsoft has detailed three important things to know about the feature.
Smart Match solves a number of problems that are inherent in online games, especially those that have smaller populations and modes that are less popular. The matchmaking system runs in the background, which means that while waiting extended periods for a game to begin, players can busy themselves with anything else on the system (including watch television).
When ready, the system will notify players and bring them right to where they need to be to begin. Friends can even coordinate matches on behalf of other players in the party. Of course, without a good competition pool, multiplayer isn't any fun. The new Smart Match system uses skill, location, and reputation (as we've previously discussed) to put together better matches.
More information is coming tomorrow about just how Smart Match steps up the matchmaking process among players.

Our TakeI've frequently experienced multiplayer games when I've been thrown up against high-leveled players during my very first match. These aren't unpopular games or niche modes either. There are problems with how matchmaking works right now, and I'm hopeful that Smart Match will be a big step toward creating a more level playing field.

This is something that should have been implemented already, but it is good that they are adding it now.
Wow, this could really be something.
im going to love that feature
Wow, that actually sounds really cool.
Not getting the Xbox One at launch..and don't know if I ever want to with all the snaffu that's been going on. But if I did I'd appreciate this. I keep thinking I want to actually use my mic to talk with people, maybe make some friends to game with but the sheer amount of abuse I hear puts me off. My chat is firmly set to mute 99% of the time now.
Reputation matchmaking could make the experience much more enjoyable, tho just because they have a good rep with the guys, doesn't mean they're as willing to accept the girls D:
But was it not already in use for the 360?? Why is there a reputation and class to choose from ??
SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111111111 BUT GOOD IDEA
I am very excited to see how this play out.
Cool news for Xbox One fans. This go round I'm sticking with a PS4 for a long while.
You want to impress me with a SMART matching system? Find a way to get me in the game where I'm not at a DISADVANTAGE because I pay for a high speed connection. Yeah, lag compensation...I'm talking about you. I realize this probably has to do more with each individual game's servers and what they can handle but why on Earth do people with fiber optic connections (like myself) get stuck playing in rooms where hosts are using a much slower connection and from the other side of the country? There needs to be game modes in multiplayer that you can ONLY play if you have a high speed connection. Then, everyone wins.
All talk for now. We'll see what ppl say after its out.
