The lights are on
Update: CCP is still working through all the statistics of the battle, but it has revealed a few numbers. The most combatants that were online at one time capped out at 4,070 players, but CCP says the more than 5,000 players were involved.
You can head here to read the original declaration of war, and you can head here for a statistical breakdown of the battle.
As this story publishes online, EVE Online is currently embroiled in one of the biggest battles the game has ever experienced.
Earlier this year, we wrote a story about another large battle that broke out in EVE Online. This battle has already exceeded the scope of that battle by more than 1,000 players.
This battle is the product of planning, unlike the war that broke out earlier this year. In expectation of the large number of players, CCP Games has slowed time in the game in order to compensate the overburdened server.
We've reached out to CCP Games for a progress report to see if any EVE Online records have been broken. In the mean time, to see the battle in action, you can check out this live stream from drew_qt.

Our TakeEVE Online is a dense, difficult to digest game, but the community that has embraced it is clearly passionate. To see all these players playing the game simultaneously is very impressive.

My friend was into this game for awhile, I wonder if he is participating.
Holy Starship! Thats insane!
this is insane. very cool
I went to watch it to see what the gameplay looked like. Apparently, it's a slideshow.
I'm seriously hoping it's my connection.
Always wanted to see how these battles play out in the actual game, but I just couldn't play the game long enough to find out.
I dont play eve but i am the ceo of foxhound in dust 514. We're having some interesting political situations ourselves, i was just bribed into not attacking an instawin, but the more interesting is all info that lol i cant even share because of the way the eveverse works. Many people either get turned off by the fact that 90% of the game is played outside of the game itself through political manuevers or become addicted. I personally love it, even if im not playing i get to run the corp site, socialize with the friendliest player base ive ever met, and make decisions and be ceo to over a hundred ppl. If anybody plays it look us up on our enjin or ingame!
And we dusties had nothing to do with it...
Wow thats a lot of players. Tried Eve a few months ago but decided I couldn't keep up with it at this time.
I could never get into EVE personally, but I think it's impressive these kinds of things happen.
Try to play EVE last few mouth ago....To damn hard...and not have so many time. But i love the ideia ....!
I quit, biomassed my characters, and I don't regret it at all. F*ck CCP.
