The lights are on
Shigesato Itoi is a multitalented author, known is Japan for his writing, but in North America, he is best known as the mind behind EarthBound. He recently published an essay expressing his appreciation for Earthbound and all of its fans.
You can head here to read the full essay, which shows a genuine appreciation for the game and its fans:
All sorts of people tell me about their memories, about all the things I left in the playground called Earthbound. From the tiny safety pins, broken pieces of colored glass to the withering leaves. When I ask them, “how do you remember so much?”With their eyes gleaming, they say, “I love that world so much I remember everything about it.” I reply right away saying “me too.”
As a product of the new found excitement surrounding EarthBound, Nintendo set up a special site that offers a digital version of the original strategy guide sold with the game.
Our TakeMost of us are big fans of EarthBound here at Game Informer. It's exciting to see it take on a new life with the Virtual Console release. It makes me slightly more optimistic that a localized version of Mother 3 (the Japanese name for the EarthBound series) will come to North America.
