The lights are on
CD Projekt, developer of the Witcher series, made its Witcher 2 DLC free of charge. After a recent interview with Examiner, it looks like we might see the same deal for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
"We could sell extra content to gamers down the road, but we don't believe in that," said game director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz. "Only something really big, and something that will not make you feel ripped off, justifies a price tag."
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will release in 2014 for PC, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. Click the banner below to see all of our exclusive Witcher 3 content.
Our TakeWhile this is clearly good news for the consumer, we're left to wonder exactly what Tomaszkiewicz means by "something really big." We've certainly seen huge add-ons this generation like Oblivion's Shivering Isles DLC, but most tends to be smaller in size and scope.
This is just one of the many reasons why the guys behind CD Projekt are AWESOME! Hopefully more companies start following suit. Big thanks to these guys, and keep up the amazing work. Us gamers truly appreciate you!
niceee. witcher is a great series, cyberpunk looks cool too.. i like those guys
I cannot wait to play this game. When is 2014 again? I can't take it. I'm going crazy. Agh!
"Good Guy CD Projekt"
AMEN!!!! power to you, CD Projekt! consider me a new buyer
Everything this developer says makes me happy. I really need to play this series.
And Witcher 3 just went from "Completely uninterested because I'd definetely get lost, maimed, and frustrated" to "Definitely going to get it even though I'll definetely get lost, maimed, and frustrated". It's not so much that I wasn't interested before, but any dev team that doesn't put out DLC to give the "Whole Experience" has gained my trust and with it my wallet.
This is how it should be done. I'm much more willing (and able) to buy DLC if they make it worth my while. More companies should do it this way.
Such a nice thought process, very refreshing to see this kind of attitude in the gaming industry. Not only am I really anticipating this game, but it comes from a company that I want to throw hundreds of dollars of my hard earned money at just to keep them afloat and show other developers/publishers that I SUPPORT A COMPANY THAT ACTUALLY GIVES A *** ABOUT US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The title is misleading.
