Weekend Warrior 7/26/13

by Brian Albert on Jul 26, 2013 at 02:00 PM

This weekend we won't let silly things like obligations and responsibilities get in the way of our gaming time. We're trucking across rural Germany, surviving the zombie apocalypse, and booking some time with our beloved handhelds. What about you? Let us know what you're playing in the comments below!

Ben Hanson: This weekend my sister is getting married, which is a huge bummer because it eats into my gaming time. She's a selfish monster. I hope to squeeze in some Animal Crossing here and there. Have you heard of that game yet? Also, I borrowed a racing wheel from the office and am playing a lot of Euro Truck Simulator 2 on my PC. I know it sounds lame, but slowly and carefully driving a semi across Germany has its moments. Maybe we can record a Test Chamber of the game and role-play as a driver and hitchhiker or something. Have a good weekend!

Jeff Marchiafava: My gaming plans for last weekend got derailed by babysitting and house work (when did I become an adult? This wasn’t part of the plan!), so this weekend I hope to actually get to The Walking Dead: 400 Days and play more State of Decay. By now I’m sure my settlement has been completely ravaged by zombies, and I’ll spend most of the time babysitting NPCs and doing chores to maintain my safe house…wait a minute…

Tim Turi: For the past week I’ve been into Rogue Legacy. I intend to finish the addictive, roguelike platformer, but it’s getting a little repetitive right now. This weekend it may be replaced with some Shadowrun Returns, however. I dig the game’s XCOM-like combat and engrossing sci-fi/fantasy hybrid story. The environment reminds me of Blade Runner, which is a world I want to be lost in all the time.

Kyle Hilliard:

I will start EarthBound.
Dragon’s Crown will follow that.
More Picross e2.

Mike Futter: This weekend, I'll be revisting Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath HD for a game club podcast with friends. I'll also be playing more State of Decay, working through the STAR Labs missions in Injustice: Gods Among Us, and taking on the kids in some Super Smash Bros. Brawl. If time permits, I'll also dive into something on my 3DS and/or Vita.

Brian Albert: Instead of playing The Witcher 2 last weekend, I finished The Last of Us. Considering I've heard spoilers discussed around the Game Informer office, this was probably a wise decision. I couldn't get into Red Dead Redemption when I first played it, but I think I might not have given it the chance it deserved. I'll start it this weekend if I can find a cheap copy somewhere.
