Load Up Your Nintendo eShop Account And Get Money Back

by Mike Futter on Jul 24, 2013 at 03:24 AM

There are some big Nintendo games coming over the next few months. Pikmin 3, Rayman Legends, and Wind Waker HD will all be coming to the Wii U this fall. Nintendo wants you to load up your wallet to get ready, and they are offering you money to do it.

Through July 28, if you add between $50 and $99 to your eShop account, you'll get a $5 promotional code. Add more than $100, and you'll earn yourself $10. Codes will be delivered on August 2 (two days before Pikmin 3 arrives).

This is for Wii U only, but if you are looking for some free cash for the 3DS, Nintendo and Atlus are still running their Fire Emblem and Shin Megami Tensei promotion. Buy them both and you'll earn yourself $30.

Our Take
Smart move, Nintendo. This not only incentives people to commit to eShop purchases, but it is a smart way to promote upcoming titles. It's also wise for them to include Rayman Legends on the page, giving people a reminder that it was originally designed for the Wii U. This is two intelligent promotions in a very short period, and I hope it marks a new strategy for the company.
