The lights are on
The only time we ever see Nintendo's most famous women are in action, or in prison awaiting help, but artist Caitlin Russell imagines what their lives must be like between game releases.
Russel's portfolio is comprised of mostly original work, but her Icons pieces showcase a trilogy of characters that every fan of video games will know. You can head here to see bigger versions of the images above, as well as the process of creation. They're also available as prints that you can purchase.

Oh, wow, this is neat! I sometimes wish I had that kind of talent.
This is pretty cool.
Love the Samus one.
likin the zelda and samus ones a lot
I think the one of Princess Zelda is the best.
Fantastic artwork. I've always wondered what heroes get up to in their spare time, Nintendo in particular. I used to like to think the cast of Super Smash Brothers Brawl goes out and has a giant barbecue or something whenever they're not throwing eachother around.
I have some feels for the Samus one. If only because of how I felt whilst playing Metriod Prime 3. I felt so terrible playing that game as she became more infused with Phazon.
Baby chain-chomp is a perv xD
I checked out the rest of her work. It's beautiful.
All three of these are cool and the rest of her work in the gallery are awesome.
I'm liking the Samus one the best, because we almost always see her as a cold bounty hunter, not as a human with a tragic past. Having the Chozo statue only reinforces this.
These are really great! I like the art style a lot.
Lovely work,the Samus one espcially.
Really nice stuff
The water colors is a great look for capturing the mellow vibe. Me likes, me likes
I love the overall design to the Samus one.
love stuff like this!
