The lights are on
At San Diego Comic-Con, we had a chance to sample the latest Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 build. We also had a chance to speak with David Cox, producer on the game, and Robert Carlysle, the voice of Dracula. Today, we've learned on more thing.
In a conversation with Destructoid, Cox indicated that Lords of Shadow 2 will be the final Castlevania from MercurySteam. The studio has been on board for two console games and the 3DS Castlevania: Lords of Shadow: Mirror of Fate.
"So we’ve told Japan headquarters that this is the last one for us... there’s nothing worse than when somebody’s got something to say, and when they’ve said it, they just keep talking," Cox said. If the previews are any indication, MercurySteam will be leaving the franchise on a high note. We'll know for certain later this year.
Our TakeI thoroughly enjoyed Castlevania: Lords of Shadow, and I thought the ending and narrative elements of the DLC (if not the gameplay) were quite interesting. We've been fighting Dracula for so long, that getting a better understanding of him can only enrich the rest of the franchise (both past and future). Should Lords of Shadow 2 live up to our expectations, MercurySteam will prove itself one of the few developers that knows when to stop talking.

a good move. good developers need to take risks
Not happy with seeing them go, but I understand them wanting to leave on a high note. I'm sure this next installment is going to be fantastic, so thank you MercurySteam. Y'all guys did a wonderful job crafting a excellent breath of fresh air on a flagging franchise. Best of luck.
Cant wait. Im replaying Lords of Shadow in anticipation.
Only thing that pisses me off is that they had to go and make *** 3DS middle part for this game series
That's a shame. MercurySteam did a great job on the Castlevania series. I thoroughly enjoyed the first Lords of Shadow and even the 3DS game.
Very respectable decision, those guys over at Ubisoft (read: assassin's creed) should take note and learn when to stop talking and move on to the next subject
Going to be fantastic. It would be awesome if they made a Berserk game down the line
Nothing wrong with that Mercury - do your thing - set the tone, mood, and core of a new system that tells the story of Dracular - if others want to take a shot at this beast - then by all means I don't think that is a bad thing.
I feel like Mercury Steam is coming of as some serious bad-asses right now :). These guys were always under-appreciated IMO and I'm happy for the clout that they have gotten with this duo-logy. :D
This has been known for quite some time now. Their next project is Contra.
Lords of Shadow was a great game. Mirrors of Fate is a solid argument for best game that has ever been released on 3DS.
Quit while you're ahead,I can respect that.
port it to the Wii U first, then quit.
