The Kickstarted Wasteland 2's Expanded Scope Causes Delay

Wasteland 2 is getting a small delay, but developer inXile entertainment is quick to assure backers and Wasteland fans that the game is on track.

In an update on the game's Kickstarter page, Wasteland's mastermind Brian Fargo assured fans that the game continues to be well-funded, but that a delay was necessary in order to expand the game to the scope Fargo has in mind. Fargo's reassurances are almost certainly a product of Double Fine's Broken Age Kickstarter project running into funding issues.

Fargo stated in the Kickstarter update that music for the game is completely on track, as well the majority of the game's features. Next month, the game will be at a point of where combat, the ability to travel the map, character creation, etc., will all be implemented and complete. Unfortunately, this level of completion is about six weeks behind schedule.

Fargo says that the game will begins its beta testing in October, which was originally meant to be the month of the game's release.

Our Take
Wasteland 2's delay seems reasonable. Gamer's are accustomed to delays, even if they are disappointing. It may take a few extra months to get our hands on the full game, but that's a delay I think most fans and backers can be comfortable with.
