Pokémon Developer Teasing Mysterious Collaboration

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 19, 2013 at 05:07 AM

Game Freak, the developer behind all of the core Pokémon games, is teasing a some kind of collaboration in its official website.

Siliconera discovered a page on the developer's official website featuring the image above. There is some kind of creature that appears to be a miniature pony bathed in white light in front of Japanese characters with the cryptic "coming soon" text located at the bottom of the screen. Not all of the text white the bright creature, but what is visible roughly translates to: “That popular game that is played around the world, will be reborn in a surprising collaboration!”

Our Take
Presumably, this is Pokémon-related. Game Freak released HarmoKnight earlier this year (a game I liked quite a bit) as well as the Game Boy Advance game Drill Dozer in 2006. Outside of those two games, Game Freak has not ventured outside of its Pokémon comfort zone. I would love to see more non-Pokémon games or projects from the developer, but I am not optomistic that this will be the case in regard to this tease.
