The lights are on
The Assassin's Creed series has always freely jumped across the ages, but some fans have longed for a modern day take on the war between the Assassins and Templars. If that's you, don't hold your breath in anticipation.
While Assassin's Creed III gave players a taste of how a contemporary Assassin's Creed might play during its Desmond sequences, I've often wondered what a game set in the modern era (or even near future) might look like. Unfortunately, Assassin's Creed fans who feel the same way might be out of luck, because Assassin's Creed is a historical video game series, and it sounds as though it will stay that way.
During an Assassin's Creed panel at Comic Con, Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag lead writer Darby McDevitt talked about how much the Ubisoft team enjoys working with history. "We try to approach history with a sense of reverence and a sense of groundedness," said McDevitt. "We love doing our homework, visiting these locations, and researching real historical details, which we can incorporate into the game. We love making game's based on real historical places, and I don't think any era can be ruled out, but whichever era we choose to do next we will bring it to life in a realistic way. So, I wouldn't expect us to do a modern day Assassin's Creed anytime soon."
While McDevitt went on to say that it would be possible to see an Assassin's Creed game set in ancient Japan and filled with Ninjas, it sounds like anyone's dream of seeing an Assassin's Creed full of flying cars or laser rifles will have to remain just that, a dream.

I'm really happy to hear this,I enjoy the historical theme assassin's creed have
Not sure I'd want it to be all modern. I love the history and how they only alter it a bit.
I'm glad of this. Since guns are so popular now a days, the Assassins would just seem to be soldiers with guns. And it's kind of hard to imagine an Assassin actually getting close enough to someone to do any cool killing without getting shot multiple times. So I hope the Assassin's Creed Series will stay in the past so we can see some more cool assassinations =)
