The lights are on
In an interview with writer Gail Simone (Deadpool, Batgirl), new information has been revealed about an upcoming Tomb Raider comic book. If you enjoyed the story and characterization in Square Enix's reboot, then this should be some good news.
Speaking with Kotaku, Simone revealed that the story she's working on takes place after the conclusion of this year's title. It will be canon and lead into a sequel. Given Square Enix's claim that Tomb Raider failed to meet expectations, news of a sequel is both surprising and welcome.
Simone is an avid gamer, and she shares her enjoyment of the series at large. "I’ve always loved the classic, cool Lara Croft, but this feels like her origin story, like we’re seeing her before she becomes the icon, and it’s very compelling to me," she said.
The series from Dark Horse is due out in February 2014. While this confirms a sequel, no additional news is available. We reached out to Square Enix and representatives declined to comment.

TR getting a sequel is great news. The first game is fantastic, and it should only get better from there, considering it was an origin story of sorts.
TR and The Last Of Us are two of the best games I've played in the past three years!
Please leave out the multiplier in the sequel
I just finished the Reboot yesterday and loved it. I really wish there was a reason to play it after you collect EVERYTHING. Multiplayer is okay... I really don't like it, I might try and get the achievements for the Multiplayer but I doubt it. I got the Collectors Edition since it had some nice content. I just hope there's replay value and maybe a more clean multiplayer in the sequel.
It's great to hear there is a sequel coming. I hope Square sets a more realistic expectation for this game, although Tomb Raider did sell well.
Tomb Raider 2? The highlight of my Friday boo yah!
Really different look for most comics
Very fitting. No other video game character has a larger presence in the comic book world than Laura. But February!? Man - it might as well be ten years from now. It's tough enough that the Tomb Raider minimates are still two months away.
I love my Laura!!!!!
I love my Laura.
i want a *** sequel and we better get some news next E3
If any game I have ever played needs a sequel, it's this one. The possibilities of a sequel being in the next-gen and probably having an even bigger open-world concept are limitless.
This sounds pretty cool, she pretty good Gail Simone, but of course be a sequel. Tomb Raider sold the most physically copies a game ever sold in such a short time. SQ where just utterly dumb.
A Tomb Raider comic book = awesome. ^_^
