The lights are on
Xbox Live Arcade has been very good to Undead Labs' State of Decay. The title sold over 250,000 copies in its first two days on the platform, and has continued to woo players since.
We've known about plans for a PC version for some time, and now we have more details. Those awaiting the title, which will arrive first via Steam Early Access this year, can expect improved resolutions and framerate. The content will be identical to that in the Xbox Live version. The Early Access version will only support controllers, with keyboard and mouse support included in the full release.
Mod tools are not planned for the PC, but the Undead Labs team isn't opposed to modding. For Xbox Live, a few updates are currently planned. In the next patch, players will be able to have NPCs accompany them on missions. As we previously mentioned, multiplayer won't be happening until a sequel.
Additionally, sandbox mode is taking shape. There will be no victory conditions, but supplies and resources will run low. Once the area is cleared out, the player can take some NPCs to the next map, which is more dangerous.

Our TakeUndead Labs' transparent approach has been largely positive for them and the community. Frequent interactions with players, a steady stream of updates, and even detailed explanations when certain expected features simply can't happen are all hallmarks of a socially savvy studio. As for gameplay, State of Decay is sitting on my Xbox 360 right now and will likely be the next game I play. I look forward to tweeting about it in the coming days.

Undead Labs is probably one of the best developers out there. Take one look at their interaction with the community and you can see. Also, State of Decay is such a good game and I can't wait to hear more details about Class 4.
It's great to see Undead Labs working hard with State of Decay. I am very much looking forward to the Sandbox mode. I need to finish this game up soon; I am enjoying what I have played so far.
Hip-hip hooray! Finally I can get a NPC to accompany me. Although this pretty much guarantees that I won't die. Once you get the handle of the game then its not too hard. Ya just got to be cautious and ya won't die.
Good to hear steam will be getting a version soon.
I'm gonna have to wait until a sale or next year's summer sale to pick this up then since I'm such a cheapskate :( oh well, I reeealllyyy hope mod support comes to this game. I've heard nothing but amazing things from SoD
Next map? entirely different? Can we get some elaboration? Will it just be items placed differently around the same map? or an entirely new layout?
Really want this to improve
