The lights are on
PixelJunk Monsters: Ultimate HD is coming to the PlayStation Vita at the end of this month with new visuals, updated controls that take advantage of the touch-screen, and the same difficulty.
It will be $14.99, and it will be available on July 30. This remake is being handled by Double Eleven, but the studio worked closely with the original developer, Q-Games. The Ultimate HD version of the game will include the extra towers, enemies, and levels from the PSP version of the game, as well as the Encore expansion.
When Double Eleven started building the game, it had some ideas to make the game easier, but Q-Games wanted to keep the game's original difficulty intact, so this is strictly a visual upgrade.

Our TakeGiven the choice, I would have liked to see the game balanced to be a little easier, but that's only because I struggled so much with PixelJunk Monsters. I only made it past the first few levels. Also, I think this may be the first HD remake of a game that was already in HD when in released on PlayStation 3 in 2008. I guess the Vita version is a double-HD remake.

Woohoo I can't wait! This was the first game I played on the PSP and can't wait to play it again on my Vita.
The extra HD is in there for dramatic effect. Lol. Game looks like a great purchase for the vita
Ah yeah, can't wait to check this out. These types of games are perfect for Vita.
Also, lol at the "double HD" comment.
Even though I already have Pixeljunk Monsters and the encore expansion, I think I'm going to buy this to support the devs simply because it's one of my favorite games from PSN hands down. At least I've never played the PSP version so there will be a little new content for me. And maybe the touch controls will work nicely. And perhaps there will be a platinum trophy for my efforts this time.
I am very happy they didn't change the difficulty. This makes the game all the better. The trophies challenges were very difficult, but I like it that way.
I've played a countless number of games over the years dating all the way back to the NES but this damn game takes the cake as THE HARDEST GAME I HAVE EVER PLAYED. I have beaten Battletoads for Christ's sake but I can't get past fifth level in this game.
I kinda wish they'd just make a sequel or another expansion but I suppose a remake is fine. It is a great game.
Awesome can't wait to get this, I already have the money for this can't wait.
So playing thiis again, loved it
