The lights are on
In celebration of the game’s 20-year anniversary, Ubisoft is releasing an HD remake of Flashback for Xbox Live and PlayStation Network. The sci-fi platformer was released in the U.S. as Flashback: The Quest for Identity in 1993 for Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, and PC.
Attendees of the San Diego Comic-Con this week will have the chance to see Ubisoft showcase the upcoming Flashback remake in the Xbox Lounge. The event is scheduled to take place in the Manchester Ballroom at the Manchester Grand Hyatt hotel on July 18 and 19 from 11 AM to 8 PM PT, and on July 20 from 11 AM to 5 PM PT.
Ubisoft has also announced that the release will include the original Flashback game. No official launch date has been set.
Take a look at some HD Flashback gameplay footage here.
Our TakeFlashback should make for another quality addition to the Xbox Live and PlayStation Network libraries. Fans of Shadow Complex might note some similarities in style and gameplay here, which is a good thing. Hopefully this Comic-Con event will result in an official release date.
Oh man, that's good news.
Oh wow, didnt even know this was being made. Never played the original, but I always wanted to. This will definitely be on my radar, or should say game-dar?
I personally am done with this game. Beat the many variations including the Jaguar version many times. Though it's nice to see for those that never got into it during retro gaming.
Am I the only one who thought that was the 11th Doctor in that picture?
I was just thinking the other day about how much I loved Shadow Complex and how disappointing it was they never did a sequel. I'm really excited to play this game.
Keep the platformers coming!
Looks cool, maybe I'll try it out when I'm there!
I loved to play Flashback back in the day. I hope though that this is not a straight remake, but a sequel or something. I'm also a little disappointed that Ubi isn't bringing their considerable 3rd person platforming prowess to bear here. I'm not too psyched about a 2.5D platformer.
As long as it doesn't destroy my childhood memories of playing the original Flashback on the Genesis through my beloved Sega Channel,we're fine. I remember seeing the trailer for this remake and the voice acting felt a little over the top to me. I'm still buying it though. Now if I can get Another World remade like this,I'd be happy.
I haven't heard the name Flashback in a long time. I wasn't even aware they were doing a remake. It looks really good. I can't wait to play it.
I kinda sorta remember this game.. lol Not sure I'd take another shot at it after all this time.
i have so many found memories of this game when i was young... this and Another world was some of the best games i had played back then...
This new remake,is gonna be a walk down memory lane.. and what i have seen so far,its looks good... im gonna pick this up on day1.
