The lights are on
According to recent tweets from Irrational Games co-founder and creative director Ken Levine, he's still working to get a BioShock game started up on Sony's Vita handheld.
Late last week Levine went on a question answering spree from his Twitter followers when one of them asked about the latest on the BioShock Vita game that was announced way back at E3 2011.
"I talked to both Sony and 2k about it yesterday. Trying to make a match," he replied.
Another follower asked what he meant by making a match. "Trying to get the 2 companies to sign off," Levine clarified.
Back in February, he stated that BioShock Vita was not currently in development, but that he was still hopeful. More recently, he updated fans on the status of BioShock Infinite's DLC. Somehow he's also squeezing in writing a script for an upcoming Logan's Run movie remake.
Our Take:Mr. Levine must really like Sony's portable platform. He seems to have made it a passion project of sorts. The fact that 2K and Sony are still willing to meet with him about it could be a good sign, but if it hasn't happened yet after two years maybe development funding just isn't in the cards.

Considering BioShock: Infinite made as much money as it did, I would think that Sony wants to get a BioShock game (done the right way) on their handheld system as soon as possible. A game like that would sell a massive amount of Vitas. I know I'd buy one for a BioShock game, as long as it wasn't a rehash.
A Bioshock game for the Vita would really help the system out. Plus it would be an awesome addition to my collection.
I'd love for a BioShock on the Vita. I just don't know the likelihood of it thought since he is working on a movie.
"...but if it hasn't happened yet after two years maybe development funding just isn't in the cards."
Well, one would imagine it had to be put on the backburner until Infinite was out the door, now that it's done and they're on to DLC they can focus resources to give it the attention it deserves.
I would love to see a Bioshock installment show up on the Vita. This would be the software the Vita needs to move more units.
It would be interesting to see what Levine could do with the hardware. I almost feel as if he would take the opportunity to experiment with a genre of game that isn't FPS, but I dunno.
well if that happens, I am going to need to go out and get a vita
A Bioshock game on the Vita will definitely get my interest.
hmmmm.... it could work
Y'know, I played the entirety of Bioshock Infinite, but I never saw that part from the above screenshot.
That would definitely boost Vita sales. I actually am quite pleased with the Vita. It doesn't have a ton of games, but it does have some really good exclusives. I only wish they'd improve the PSP games library on PSN. I really want to buy games like Valkyrie Profile, but they're nowhere to be found...
At least someone out in developer land wants to bring new and original games to the vita. I'm seeing mostly ports of ports of ports...
