Documentary Film Covers The Legacy Of Nintendo's Power Glove

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 13, 2013 at 07:54 AM

The Power Glove for the Nintendo Entertainment System might not have worked nearly as well as advertised, but that doesn't mean it hasn't become a cultural phenomenon. Film makers Adam Ward, Andrew Austin, and Paula Kosowski wanted to document the legacy of one of Nintendo's strangest peripherals with a film.

You can check out the trailer for the film below which features interviews with the controller's creators, as well as artists and musicians who have spent the years since its release creating elaborate art projects and instruments using the device.

You can find out more about the movie at the film's official website.

Our Take
The Power Glove is a fascinating object. It is mostly considered a failure as a consumer product, but it has generated a bizarre cult following. That's something that happens with media like films and video games often, but it doesn't often happen with products. It's definitely an interesting topic for a documentary.
