Valve's Dota 2 Leaves Beta, Begins Full Release Process

by Kyle Hilliard on Jul 09, 2013 at 03:41 PM

Valve's Dota 2 is finally leaving the beta stage, but it's full release will be a little bit different from traditional video game releases.

Game's like Diablo III and SimCity, which had similar online requirements for play, saw a huge number of players trying to shoulder their way in at launch. This caused egregious delays and general difficulty for players trying to get on and play.

Valve is trying to avoid the same launch growing pains by opening the doors slowly and having players form an orderly line.

If you want to give Dota a try, or you have a friend you want to bring into the community, click the button above and you can get in the launch queue. You'll see your place in line, and when it is your turn we'll send you an email letting you know you're in. We'll begin sending those emails this week.

You can learn more about the process, which is complicated, but seems fair, by heading to Dota 2's website. For more on Dota 2, read up on the game with our earliest hands-on details.
