The lights are on
The Last of Us is doing well for for Sony, quickly setting records as the fastest selling game on the PlayStation 3 for 2013, and fastest selling new software title for the console.
Naughty Dog's "grim masterpiece" released on June 14 exclusively for the PlayStation 3 and has so far sold more than 3.4 million copies. Despite being an American game that takes place in the United States, The Last of Us has seen worldwide appeal, also selling well in Japan.

Our TakeIt's always good to see a deserved game see success, especially one that didn't necessarily have everything going for it on paper. The Last of Us is a serious drama, and it's a completely new franchise appearing mere months before the release of the PlayStation 4. Starting new IPs at the end of console life cycles is dangerous, but the huge sales of the The Last of Us shows that quality can persevere. Now the question is, will there be a sequel?

Good for them. Too bad I didn't find it that great, but definitely one of the best games I've played recently.
That is great to hear, this game and the team deserve all the success they have gotten. I guess this means that a sequel is likely going to happen as well. I could see a few ways that they could approach it, but it could be tricky. I have confidence in Naughty Dog though.
That's awesome news! I for one absolutely loved the game even with some reservations that I had I would still consider it the best work Naughty Dog has done. I know there are plenty of jaded gamers out there that will try and talk down the game, but for those that played the game to enjoy it like myself are walking away with an experience that you can only find in The Last Of Us.
Partially why I'm going to Sony for next gen...so late in their console's life, and the hits are still coming! This is really one of the best games I've ever played, and they could be 100% focused on next gen, but only months before and we're playing Last of Us and looking forward to Beyond: Two Souls 0_o
Awesome to see that The Last of Us is doing well, the game is incredible, one of the best games of this generation IMO. Hopefully there will be a sequel!
Of course there will be a sequel, I say winter of 2015!! Naughty Dog is such a superior game developer. I was slightly disappointed with Uncharted 3, but TLOU really blew me away and the story was so great.
Well deserved. Hands down the best video game I've ever played.
I hope a sequel will be on PS4.
One for the books, if there's a sequel, surely will break the record again.
That's what happens when you make a damn good game and actually market it well.
I'm glad that this game is selling well because I feel like this is a chilling experience that everyone should take in.
I would like to see a sequel taking place in a different country like Japan or China, and in those regions there are different items and materials to make some cool new weapons. Or maybe it can take place in Eastern Europe, one of the most depressing regions in the world getting hit by a fungal infection? Just imagine!
I highly doubt they will make a sequel, but I wouldn't be surprised if they made a prequel.
It deserves it. My current GOTY.
It is well deserved. I kinda hope that they don't make a sequel but I'm sure the powers at be will want one. If so I think fast forwarding another twenty years following Ellie as an adult would be cool. Or the first few days of the outbreak from another handful of characters POV.
