The lights are on
Last 4th of July, Square Enix released an updated PC version of Final Fantasy VII exclusively through its online store. Exactly one year later, the publisher has brought the PlayStation classic to Steam.
The game costs $11.99 and comes with the following updated features according to the Steam store page:

Cloud Saves – If you’re away from home or simply using a different computer to play, enjoy FINAL FANTASY VII wherever you are. With cloud save support in FINAL FANTASY VII you can continue your game progress right where you left off (Requires Internet Connection. Saves can only be transferred between a maximum of 3 computers at any one time).
Character Booster – Find yourself stuck on a difficult section or lacking the funds to buy that vital Phoenix Down? With the Character Booster you can increase your HP, MP and Gil levels to their maximum, all with the simple click of a button, leaving you to enjoy your adventure.
Optimized for PC – FINAL FANTASY VII has been updated to support the latest hardware and Windows Operating Systems.
It appears that FF VII is only supported on Windows PCs at this time. The original PC version of FF VII was released in 1998.
With all of the awesome current games available to players, many will pass this by for their holiday gaming marathons. But I wouldn't be surprised if this derails more than a few gamers struck by nostalgia.

Hey, it's that game people like on that digital marketplace people like. People probably like this
Mac?????? WHY NOT????
Ehh I've got enough on my plate as is. I'll wait til Steam has one of their crazy fifty or seventy-five percent off for a day things for it. I mean I've only played the game all the way through eight or nine times already so the desire to pick it up again isn't to strong. Now if in the next few weeks people start modding it that might be a different story.
Maybe I can finally play this game.
This is pretty cool and very unexpected. I have no problem purchasing it for Steam right now as well.
Wow, that's kinda cool! I've always wanted to try VII; I like the characters from what I've read and picked up about them in the Advent Children movie and Kingdom Hearts. Maybe I'll pick this up.
Cool beans, but I just saw a Walking Dead Vita bundle with my name on it and I'll play FF7 and FF6 on that.
I already have it via PSN but I might have to get it again...
Might finally be time to give this game a try.
But...but...I already bought the PC version off Square's store...lol Anyway, I really appreciated the sharper look of the game. I think they corrected some dialogue as well, though there were still a couple, "What did that say?" moments. Great game, first Final Fantasy I ever played, and it led me to play all the others.
