The lights are on
As this generation wore on, Xbox 360 users have gotten used to swapping discs mid-game. Assassin's Creed 3, Rage, L.A. Noire, and The Witcher 2 are just some of the titles that have had Xbox 360 users fumbling to swap DVDs. Grand Theft Auto V will ship on two discs, but Rockstar has figured out how to make it more convenient.
In a question and answer post on Rockstar's website, the publisher has assured eager inquirers that they won't need to leave their seats mid-game. Grand Theft Auto V's first disc will be used for installation purposes, and the second disc will run the game.
The 8 GB of content can be placed on the hard drive or a USB drive. The latter must be USB 2.0 compliant and have a read/write speed of 15 MB. Furthermore, Rockstar recommends a new USB drive for optimum performance. The PlayStation 3 version only has one disc, but users will experience an automatic installation upon placing the disc in the drive. For more on Grand Theft Auto V, we have previews on the world, heists, and combat. You might also recall that Grand Theft Auto V adorned our December 2012 cover.
Our TakeI would not recommend using a USB thumb drive to install mandatory game content unless you have no other choice. An external USB hard drive would be the way to go if you don't have enough internal storage for you Xbox 360. If you have the available cash and you're serious about playing Grand Theft Auto V, a hard drive is a worthwhile investment.

that's funny how ps3 users say I don't know how that feels actually yea you bc half the games on ps install themselfs
Were right around the corner from new consoles, but I was very interested in how developers were gonna handle "game installs" since the 360 started to allow it... sounds like GTA is going about it the right way, I don't mind a install disc.
Well been there done that with Halo 4 after all. It was one two discs and you needed to use the second disc to download the other half of the rather okay and yet heart-breaking story and the online stuff. So this is no surprise.
poor little 360 file formats
I've been saying this forever. They are just now figuring this out?
The "Our Take" is awesome... I love you GI :D
Why don't they just put it on next gen...
What is the possibility of this game being ported over to PS4 and Xbox One? Has there been any word recently?
Part of me thinks improbable because none of the last gen GTA games got an HD port/reboot for the PS3/xbox 360.
It's not surprising but at least it was pre warned.
wow, I did not know of anything like this. I guess that's a sign we are ready for next-gen.
I don't understand the issue with having to get up to switch discs. Maybe I'm just used to it from the ps1 days, but I really don't see why this is such an issue.
cant wait to play
Well, I suppose that would work- being more like the Fallout GOTY games and such, with one disc as an installer and the other as the playing one.
I'm so excited for this game, this will be my last current gen game.
