The lights are on
Last week, the official Prince of Persia Facebook page teased that new information would be appearing this week. It appears that this teaser was in reference to a new mobile Prince of Persia game.
The game has the subtitle The Shadow and the Flame and should be releasing this summer. Ubisoft is teasing upcoming contests and sweepstakes in relation to the game. You can head here to learn more, and you can check out the trailer for the game below.
In the interest of clarification, Shadow and the Flame was actually revealed back in April, but last week's Facebook update seemed to imply that the the teased reveal was for something new. It's strange to tease a game that has already been announced, which is why we were initially excited to learn more.
Our TakeIt's disappointing to learn that what's next for Prince of Persia is a mobile title, but mostly because I let my imagination run wild when I read this story. There was no evidence necessarily hinting at the game being a new console Prince of Persia, or even a new Prince of Persia game for that matter, but a man can dream. A dream about an unnamed Prince defying the laws of physics to run alongside walls. I can always hold out hope that whatever this is, it might be something Prince of Persia-related.

While the fault is clearly ours for having expectations, its not like Ubisoft is unaware of what the crowd would want. So I think its okay to be disappointed and move on since thats what I intend on doing.
Really? I mean, I get the Deus Ex game -- that one makes sense, there's a severely underserved niche there. But a mobile platformer? Have they looked in the iOS store of late? We've got PLENTY of them.
Just like Deus ex
Will probably be better than Forgotten Sands.
such BS ubisoft...screw you...mobile game? was it not the consoles and pc that made prince of persia???? screw you ubisoft...
I suppose they're basically cashing in with PoP: Classic again basically, eh? Great...
the Sands of Time was one of my favorite games of the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox era. I hope to see a next-gen PoP show up at some point.
I just double-facepalmed for a moment
I just want mobile gaming to go away...yeah its fun to play games like this while on the toilet but thats about it.
This makes me so sad.
Easy money i see...
