The lights are on
Ubisoft has notified users that its online systems have been compromised. The company is urging users to change their passwords as soon as possible.
"We recently found that one of our Web sites was exploited to gain unauthorized access to some of our online systems," the statement reads. "We instantly took steps to close off this access, investigate the incident and begin restoring the integrity of any compromised systems."
According to Ubisoft, data accessed during the breach includes user names, email addresses, and encrypted passwords. "No personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft," the comment continues. "Your debit/credit card information was safe from this intrusion."
Should you wish to change your password, please visit Ubisoft's site or check the email you should have received for a direct link. This isn't the first time that Ubisoft has had security issues with its services.
Our TakeIt's never good news when a company suffers a security breach. Ubisoft's strong recommendation to change your password doesn't mean your account can be accessed immediately. The password data is encrypted, which means the contents aren't immediately available without a key. Still, it's better to do this sooner rather than later.

I'm so glad that so many single player games require a password protected service which stores user personal information. It's such a great idea to require information for single player experiences, then be unable to protect that information from some kid in his moms basement who can buy internet porn with the credit card info he hacked off of some service you didn't need in the first place.
Why would Aiden Pierce (Watch Dogs) hack into his own publisher's web site?
I am 80% sure that I have a uplay account. I haven't used it really, still haven't gotten the email though so if I don't get one I guess I was wrong about having an account.
God snap it Ubi. Really? getting tired of hackers and changing passwords annoying enough getting creepy a## spam mail. Gosh hackers got no life but to stalk ppl online no privacy whatsoever damn the internet these days.
Haven't used UPlay, another reason not too.. lol
Is this what the extra long maintenance on the Uplay servers have been about? I noticed I havent been able to change any account information for weeks
Already changed mine. After Rayman Legends gate and the AC IV E3 glitching, don't test my patience Ubi.
Poor ubisoft I wish them the best of luck.
Thought it was spam in my junk mail, whoops
I Haven't used UPlay. Nonetheless, already changed mine.
Damn shame people even hack these places.
Oh, come on! I thought this fad of hacking video game companies has passed.
I just use my Uplay for AC games, already changed mine nonetheless.
Done and Done
It honestly can happen to anybody. These guys just tell the public when it happens to them.
