The lights are on
Ride to Hell: Retribution is a bad game, but it has an entertainment factor that cannot be denied. It’s the reason our Test Chamber of the game is so entertaining, and why a group of editors stayed up all night live streaming the game. It’s a hilarious train wreck with fully-clothed sex scenes, and you just can’t look away.
There are a number of games like Ride to Hell that are described as, “so bad, it’s good,” but I wonder if the second part of that statement – “It’s good” – is true. Do you actually want to play these types of games by yourself? Is there joy in playing these games without an audience, or is being part of the audience that watches the game be played the only way to truly enjoy it?

I was among the many editors that crowded around Dan Ryckert as he reviewed the game, and I tuned into the live stream to see more of it, but I will never take the time to play the game myself. How about you? It's hilarious, but it's an experience I am perfectly comfortable letting somebody else endure for my own entertainment.
Also, while we're at it, what are some of your favorite hilariously bad games?

I own Overblood, Tale of the Sun, and Rising Zan, so yes.
I never buy terrible games. The last game I regret buying would have to be Rogue Warrior. I really don't know why I bought it, but at least I had a good laugh.
Aliens: Colonial Marines. That game is just hilariously broken and messed up in the head. Dancing aliens!
I went out to a Redbox and rented Aliens: Colonial Marines the second i saw the review. I had to see how bad it truly was to curb my wonder.
I feel that games like that should only be rented. You probably won't be putting it back in a year later so why keep it? This is exactly why renting video games is a valuable tool in the search of a good game.
I have played more Dynasty Warriors than I should have. Nowadays there are so many good games I should (re)play that I don't have time for the bad ones anymore.
i might buy a bad game, used, if the trophies are easy...if not, no thanks...
I play a lot of modern Sonic games. I think they are really fun! Except for Sonic 2006 and Sonic and the black knight. Terrible games!
I do like to play a crappy old game once in a while, like Back to the Future on NES or Wayne's World on SNES, just to see how low the bar can go. And if I get around to it, I like checking out the poorly reviewed games if I get access to them just to see how bad they really are. For instance, I recently got the chance to finally (and begrudgingly) check out Duke Nukem Forever, which was hilariously bad.
The way I see it, a game isn't bad until I say it is bad.
I have sometimes bought a game based on great reviews and then hated it. But never on purpose.
I do, do this with movies however. I love watching movies that are "so bad it's good". An example is of course, Plan 9 from Outer Space. That movie is amazing. I love it.

I really haven't, but I think it'd be great to sit down and play an awful game with a bunch of friends over. But I wouldn't want to waste my money.
I have actually never hated a game. I get certain enjoyment out of most games I play even if they were negatively reviewed.
I like some games that qualify as bad because so many of their parts don't work right, but they are doing something you don't see anywhere else. Earth Defense Force is a perfect example. The game is pretty broken in a lot of ways, but it only adds to the cheesy sci fi feel, and there really is no other game like it.
Something just bad, where it just feels like a generic C.O.D. or Gears clone, I usually pass on.
There is absolutely good to be found in bad games. The live stream game was great because it really didn't seem like they were trying to make such an awful game. Choices like: leaving clothes on during sex scenes in an M rated game that has nudity in it, are just so damn baffling and funny. Those chair physics! Oh man, so much to love that is so good, in such a bad, bad game.
Sometimes yeah... I almost never take any one else's opinion into consideration before I buy a game.
