The lights are on
Ubisoft's gonzo Far Cry standalone spinoff has posted strong sales so far, topping the 500,000 mark.
In an interview with Games Industry International, Ubisoft head Yves Guillemot said that the company's digital-only products have been a strong area of growth. In particular, he cited Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon as having sold over 500,000 downloads in two months. Guillemot also said that the game caused an increase in sales of the original Far Cry 3. This success will likely cause Ubisoft to look into creating more standalone spinoff titles like Blood Dragon based on its successful franchises in the future.
The success of Blood Dragon shouldn't be a surprise, as its one of the year's most entertaining games.

I purchased it shortly after it launched but have yet to start playing it. I got a little burnt out on FPS before I got to start playing it and haven't really gotten back to it.
I know no one who bought this, but kudos!
This was amazing. A lot of game for the price and its totally hilarious. Maybe one of the best game ending sequences ever too.
I really have wanted to pick this one up, but still haven't. Speaking of I still haven't beat FarCry 3 yet...damn I better get to cracking. If I remember correctly from the last time I played it I had just made it to the second island...great game though one of my favorite shooters in a long time.
Wonderful news. I finally purchased this and am excited to run through it.
I've played the demo. It's not bad and it's very amusing.
Nice. Now let's make Blood it own stand alone series. That would be cool.
