State Of Decay Also Refused Ratings Classification In Australia

by Mike Futter on Jun 26, 2013 at 06:04 AM

It's been a busy week for the Australian Classification Board, the government entity responsible for rating entertainment media. A second title has now been declined classification, even under the new R18+ banner, put into effect at the start of 2013.

State of Decay, Undead Labs' open world zombie survival title won't be making an appearance down under. The board cites the prevalence of drugs found in the title and, more specifically, that they are absolutely crucial to progress through the game. This decision comes on the heels of the refusal to classify Saints Row IV for implied sexual violence due to an "alien anal probe" weapon.

The board cites "drug use related to incentives or rewards" as the ultimate reason for refusing classification. As these decisions start to come down from the Australian Classification Board, the boundaries of even the R18+ rating are coming into focus.
