The lights are on
Ellie from The Last of Us resembles actress Ellen Page. It has been pointed out by everyone with an Internet connection, and comically by folks who know their way around Photoshop. From Page herself, however, we have not heard her address the likeness until now.
In a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything session, where notable guests log on to Reddit and answer questions from fans, someone asked Ellen Page, "Have you seen any footage of 'The Last of Us' and would you have taken the role as Ellie if approached?" Page responded, "I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond: Two Souls, so it was not appreciated."
Ellie's appearance did change over the course of development, and her final form looks less like Page than she did initially, but it's hard to ignore the similarities.
Page also answered some other questions about Beyond: Two Souls, as well as whether or not she actually plays video games:
"Making Beyond was an incredible experience. I think what David Cage is doing is really remarkable, the first of its kind and I feel grateful to be involved."
"I played video games more when I was a kid. I had Sega Genesis and was a HUGE Sonic fan. I also love the NHL games and played them with my brother all time. Then I was super into PlayStation and loved the FIFA games. I recently played my first video game in a while. I played the latest Tomb Raider and really enjoyed it, finished in about 12 hours."
Beyond: Two Souls is coming to PlayStation 3 on October 8.

I'm sorry I thought it was established long ago that ellie was in fact developed with ellen page in mind. That they were going to go get ellen until they found out she was already tied up with beyond 2 souls. In fact I remember reading the first statement in the GI magazine that had this game on the cover. So how could any of this be a surprise?
Looks less like Ellen Page and more like... mmmm, Twizzlers.
i knew they ripped off juno
Miss Page should also play The Last of Us before saying that similarities between herself and Ellie were "not appreciated".
And let's see how she acts in Beyond, and IF Cage's title could possibly be any better than Naughty Dog's. I doubt it, to be honest.
To be fair not only does the character of Ellie look a lot like her, her name 'Ellie' also sounds like 'Ellen' as well. Nonetheless, I don't think it's a huge problem, its not as if everyone knows who Ellen Page is and will get 'confused' by her likeness appearing in two very separate video games.
She's an actress whose likeliness is being used in a competing game... I don't blame her for her statement. I wouldn't appreciate it either.
That being said, I don't think she/Cage/etc are going to sue over anything.
Yes, maybe she does have a odd sorta resemblance to Ellen Page. True. However, there's a quote from a Family Guy episode I thought of upon reading this story; "There are billions of people in this world, some of them are bound to sound similar."
This can also apply to looks and other features... even though that doesn't change the fact the similarity is striking. When I first played the game's demo, I swore that was Ellen Page.
honestly, they look different.
I don't think Naughty Dog would intentionally base her looks off of "Ellen Page" I personally think she look's nothing like her, I could maybe see where they see it in the hair or the face animation's but it's still about absurd that anyone would think with the talent at Naughty Dog that any of them guys would try to tip off a voice actor for another game coming out. It's not her, and it wasn't intended to be. My opinion
Because she used "ripped off" rather than "used" clearly denotes that she is pissed about it in some degree. That said, I don't see any likeness at all. Page has a very distinct set of features and I see none in this character, not anymore that is.
I really can't see the resemblance. What is she whining about?
Lol, I thought I was the only one who thought this. Glad she picked a controller back up and played the new TR.
Okay, Ellie still SOUNDS a LOT like Ellen, but she isn't the facial doppelganger she was when the game was in development. Either way, I'm excited about both games.
Is it bad that I actually though it WAS in fact Ellen Page until now? lol
