The lights are on
Ellie from The Last of Us resembles actress Ellen Page. It has been pointed out by everyone with an Internet connection, and comically by folks who know their way around Photoshop. From Page herself, however, we have not heard her address the likeness until now.
In a recent Reddit Ask Me Anything session, where notable guests log on to Reddit and answer questions from fans, someone asked Ellen Page, "Have you seen any footage of 'The Last of Us' and would you have taken the role as Ellie if approached?" Page responded, "I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness, but I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond: Two Souls, so it was not appreciated."
Ellie's appearance did change over the course of development, and her final form looks less like Page than she did initially, but it's hard to ignore the similarities.
Page also answered some other questions about Beyond: Two Souls, as well as whether or not she actually plays video games:
"Making Beyond was an incredible experience. I think what David Cage is doing is really remarkable, the first of its kind and I feel grateful to be involved."
"I played video games more when I was a kid. I had Sega Genesis and was a HUGE Sonic fan. I also love the NHL games and played them with my brother all time. Then I was super into PlayStation and loved the FIFA games. I recently played my first video game in a while. I played the latest Tomb Raider and really enjoyed it, finished in about 12 hours."
Beyond: Two Souls is coming to PlayStation 3 on October 8.

Yes, Ellie still looks similar to Ellen Page. Yes, the joke that Ellen Page is in the Last of Us is over used and probably won't die any time soon. No, Ellen Page should not be upset about any of this. It's cool that a main character in a game looks similar to her, and not like most of the other chicks in games with nearly identical features and proportions.
Are people this immature to take pot shots at Ellen Paige and all of a sudden an issue with Beyond: Two Souls, just because she responded about Ellie's original likeness?
Someone in the world always looks like you. Me, you, him, her. Everybody has a look alike.
"...so it was not appreciated."
Oh, *** off! Such self-importance. Because Ellen Page is the only being in existence that fits that mold. Should be honored anyone gives enough of a damn to endearingly name a character after you. *** egos make me sick.

personally I don't like Ellan page as an actress and I could give two s@^ts what she has to say about anything espically the Last of Us
why all the attacks on ellen page? for people who claim to not know her or give a crap what she thinks, you can't help but point out what you think about what she thinks.
Why is this a bad thing? More Ellen Page is better.
I've seen all her movies. I really don't get her appeal. Also she was beyond a waste of screen time in x-men 3 Of course that movie was a waste of everyone's time.
I don't see it. That is all.
I'll admit, when Ellie was first shown, she did look like Ellen Page. They've definitely made enough subtle differences to move away from that, though.
Her comment is pretty bitchy. I doubt they 'ripped off' her likeness. If anything, they might have used her for reference when they created the model. Like she started to say, she should be flattered they'd consider her for that, if that's what they actually did.
They certainly didn't see Beyond and decide to copy her model. They aren't trying to sell this game on her likeness, and they definitely aren't trying to take away from her game. Zero reason for her to 'not appreciate' this.
Hell, worst case scenario, she gets more media attention (see above article).
who cares if she looks like ellie? characters usually resemble someone no matter if it is a celebrity
