Weekend Warrior 6/21/13

by Brian Albert on Jun 21, 2013 at 02:00 PM

Now that E3 is over, we finally have time to catch up with The Last of Us. Unfortunately, the excitement from last week might have been too much for our news editor, Mike Futter.

Mike Futter: This weekend I will be choking people in Animal Crossing: New Leaf and decorating my house in The Last of Us. I think I have that right...

Tim Turi: I just beat The Last of Us last night and have been processing the game’s subtle, mature story ever since. So with that grim experience behind me, I turn my eyes to the feel-good experiences of State of Decay and Metro: Last Light. Thank god I’ve been consistently immersed in the colorful saccharine world of Animal Crossing: New Leaf, otherwise these would be dark days for my gaming routine.

Kyle Hilliard: When I am not nursing my Picross e addiction, I will be skipping through the wastelands of America with Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us. I also need to finish up the new Arrested Development season, and watch the last episode of Game of Thrones. We were in Los Angeles for E3 when it aired.

Ben Hanson: This weekend I'm going to be playing a lot more State of Decay. It's janky, but it's an unbelievable survival RPG on the 360. I'm really, really enjoying it. Other than that, I'll probably buy turnips from a boar or something in Animal Crossing.

Jeff Marchiafava: This weekend is going to be all about surviving the apocalypse. I’m about halfway through The Last of Us, and hope to finish that up – I’m enjoying the game so much I might even check out the multiplayer. I already want to try another playthrough of the game on a harder difficulty, but before I jump back in, I’m going to check out State of Decay. I followed the development of the game for over a year, and with E3 behind us, I look forward to finally getting to play it.

Matt Akers: I’m replaying KOTOR for the iPad now, and my goal for the weekend is to finish my romance with Bastila. She’s much sassier than I remembered, and I kind of like it.

Brian Albert: I’m only three or four hours into The Last of Us, so I need to finish that before I move on to anything else. I think enough people have talked about State of Decay that I’m now obligated to check it out.
