Miyamoto Doesn't Have New Ideas For F-Zero

by Mike Futter on Jun 21, 2013 at 04:15 AM

Nintendo undeniably has the richest stable of first-party franchises in the contemporary console landscape. Recently, our own Ben Reeves suggested that Big N give hungry gamers a new Metroid. Samus Aran isn't the only Nintendo star being neglected. Captain Falcon needs some love, too.

In an interview with IGN, famed designer Shigeru Miyamoto tempered expectations for a return to the futuristic tracks of F-Zero. "I think where I struggle is that I don’t really have a good idea for what’s new that we could bring to F-Zero that would really turn it into a great game again," he told interviewer Rich George.

For those that are absolutely craving hovercraft racing though, Mario Kart 8 for Wii U will introduce anti-gravity and wild new tracks. Miyamoto had more to say about Nintendo's approach to its franchises and balancing great ideas with limited resources. Be sure to read the entire interview on IGN for the details.
