The lights are on
A few days ago, we reported that the latest PlayStation 3 system update (version 4.45) had the unfortunate side effect of rendering some units unusable (colloquially known as "bricking"). Sony pulled the update to investigate the problem and has now issued an update.
The patch will be re-released on June 27. Morgan Haro, Community Manager for the PlayStation Network published this comment:
We have identified the issue related to the PlayStation 3 software update (version 4.45) that impacted a small number of PS3 systems earlier this week. A new PS3 system software update is planned to be released on June 27 that resolves the issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding and we apologize for the inconvenience.
We have reached out to Sony to find out if systems adversely affected by the first version of the update will be fixed when this becomes available.

well it aint effecting me lol
I did the update and I had no problems with it!
Glad I saw the article saying that it bricked some consoles before I downloaded it. I guess I'll have to check to see if there is anything wrong with the updates before I update.
Good thing I always wait two weeks before updating
Coolness. Then next week I'll hit up some Gran Turismo.
Well it's a good thing I didn't download that. My entire week was filled with writing research papers and make up homework and I really REALLY need want to play the Last of us
I downloaded the update before reading anything about it, and luckily was unaffected.
Woah. Thank goodness that didn't happen to me. From now on I'm going to wait before I install updates to make sure they aren't causing any problems for anyone else.
Well I am lucky I wasn't on my ps3. Hopefully those effective get their ps3 fix and might be a good idea to uncheck automatic updates for future reference.
Whats a small number?!? I'd like to hear from one person who bricked from this update. everyone seems to of missed it. whats a small number of effected consoles when we are talking about 70 million, 100 or 100k?
No problems for me after updating. I must be one of the lucky millions.
Did I get bricked if I can't use my controllers at all and my PS3 turns on at random moments? (Middle of the night)It just started happening a few days ago. Someone PLEASE answer me. And do I call customer support or what?
