The lights are on
The outspoken indie developer has had a troubled relationship with Microsoft, and stated in a recent interview that his planned platform for Fez II is "not Xbox."
Fish's Fez, which garnered high praise for its inventive, perspective-shifting puzzles, was released on Xbox 360. However, Fish became incensed when he claims Microsoft made it impossible for him to correct a patch problem that broke Fez for those gamers who had already completed the game. Fish said that Microsoft would have charged his company Polytron thousands of dollars to re-certify, making releasing a new patch economically impossible.
Obviously, the incident has left a bad taste in Fish's mouth, as it now appears that he won't be releasing his games for Microsoft platforms in the future. He did express possible interest in releasing Fez II for PlayStation 4. The original Fez also released on Steam for PC.

Microsoft need to be more open in their relationship with Indies, especially ones that make past the awful "indie section", which is full of massages and baby-maker games, so that indie game developers do not have to worry about their game being on their platform - what happened to Fish is very off-putting for any developer who is on a tight budget.
Sucks for people on Xbox platforms who will miss out on this. However, I think his reasoning behind the decision was justified, Microsoft did kind of screw him over.
In the bigger scheme of things, Microsoft has to retool their approach to indie developers and the self publishing model. With PS4 and the Wii U embracing indies, Microsoft could fall behind if the don't cater to them soon.
This just in Phil Fish was found beaten in a back alley. Police have no idea who attacked mister Fish. Several X-shaped making were found on his body.
Man that really sucks. That's another thing that I hope Microsoft lightens up on.
Man.. I loved Fez. Definitely my favorite XBLA game. This might make my console decision.
I really wanted to finish Fez but at the section with the lighthouse the game would slow down to about 4 frames a second, and for me to complete the section I had to jump from invisible moving platforms which made it impossible for me to complete pre and post patch. I hope that he doesn't have as many problems because I do think he can make more interesting games.
Microsoft certainly isn't the most friendly when it comes Indie games.
*yawn* who cares about this guy. Stop giving him press.
charging developers for letting them patch their games is a bad joke Microsoft... keep playing like this and you'll see.. indy games are really important for console's game diversity... you'll learn Microsoft.. but first you're gonna fall
There are actually quite a few indie games for PS4, PC, and Wii U. This'll probably do the same, imo
