Shadowrun Returns Next Month, Entire Campaign Can Be Edited

by Mike Futter on Jun 18, 2013 at 03:00 AM

Harebrained Schemes announced today the release date of its Kickstarter-funded Shadowrun Returns. The title, which soared to over $1.8 million in funding (more than four times the goal), features a complete single-player, tactical RPG campaign. Additionally, modification tools will ship with the title on Steam.

Jordan Weisman, of FASA/Battletech fame, and his company are taking things one step further. The entire campaign will be available for editing by users. According to Weisman, he got the idea after working on an alternate reality game with Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor. Reznor released the Garage Band tracks with the album and invited his fans to remix the songs.

Of course, creators do not need to use the provided content as a starting ground. The tool set will enable the creation of new maps and stories. You'll be able to play Shadowrun Returns (and try out the mod tools for yourself) when the game is released on July 25, 2013. It will be available on PC, Mac, iPad, and Android tablets.
