The lights are on
Harebrained Schemes announced today the release date of its Kickstarter-funded Shadowrun Returns. The title, which soared to over $1.8 million in funding (more than four times the goal), features a complete single-player, tactical RPG campaign. Additionally, modification tools will ship with the title on Steam.
Jordan Weisman, of FASA/Battletech fame, and his company are taking things one step further. The entire campaign will be available for editing by users. According to Weisman, he got the idea after working on an alternate reality game with Nine Inch Nails' Trent Reznor. Reznor released the Garage Band tracks with the album and invited his fans to remix the songs.
Of course, creators do not need to use the provided content as a starting ground. The tool set will enable the creation of new maps and stories. You'll be able to play Shadowrun Returns (and try out the mod tools for yourself) when the game is released on July 25, 2013. It will be available on PC, Mac, iPad, and Android tablets.

Well I look for to seeing what fans make.
I can't wait to play this. Kickstarter is a glorious thing and Shadowrun Returns is only one of the many games I'm looking forward too.
I'm really looking forward to this release. I'm really excited to try out the editing tools.
This one seems to be a safe purchase. It's looking great.
I can't wait to play this! To make things even more awesome, some friends and I are working on setting up a Shadowrun 4e campaign. our DM is really excited since he'll be able to create his campaign in the editor! :D
Well so much for a June release...bleh.
DAMNIT I have been checking the Steam page daily waiting for this to release this month. Man!
Played it on the SNES and LOVED it! Have been waiting for a seuqel ever since (yes it has been a long wait..)
Awesome to see this classic again
This is one of the titles I'm sorry I wasn't in on when it was on Kickstarter. Hopefully when it releases I'll be able to if it would have been a good investment.
I bought this last month, glad there's finally a release date.
Curious to see how the iPad version turns out. That's the one I'd go for...
Wow. I wish more games offered that option.
