The lights are on
Irrational Games' Ken Levine is returning to his roots. No, that doesn't mean we're getting another System Shock. Levine, who started out as a film writer, will be penning the script for Warner Bros.' Logan's Run remake.
The original, released in 1976 and directed by Michael Anderson, was based on a book of the same name by William F. Nolan and George Clayton. While the details differ, both feature societies in which citizens are voluntarily executed for the good of the community upon reaching a certain age. Interestingly, Logan's Run is known in part for its unique setting, a domed city. Levine's experience with the unique backdrops of Rapture and Columbia make this a perfect match.
According to a Deadline report, Levine isn't abandoning the video game industry. He's just taking a little break.
Irrational's most recent title, Bioshock Infinite. The title, which met delays and creative departures, finally arrived in March 2013 to significant critical and commercial success. We've reached out to both Levine and 2K Games for comment and details.

Excitement for this movie just increased by a lot.
This could be cool.....
As much as I love the original, it's '70s take on the future is in need of a makeover, and Levine is just the one to do it. Good news all around.
The original is freaking crazy (and incredibly NSFW. Don't let the PG fool you) but still brilliant. I'd want to see a cool remake but have it's own twist on the dystopian society while not straying too far from important details. On that note, good for Ken. He looks like he could use a break from games.
Cool. Good for Ken! He is a great writer.
Well, there's another movie I'll have to go see.
Why are they remaking that? D: It was a horrible movie!
Oh, this is gonna be good...
As a teenager and Sci-Fi Geek when Logan's Run released, I have to tell you, I'm not that jazzed. The original was O.K. They will have to nail the special effects and do a great job of casting to get me interested.
Well this remake already sounds great.
I had no idea that Logans Run was getting a remake...Why am I only learning this now?!
I would have saw this movie either way as I loved the original. Knowing that Levine is involved just makes it that much sweeter!
to bad hes not working on bioshock vita
That seems right up his alley.
That's awesome! Logan's Run is one of my favorite books and while the 1976 film was pretty good, it badly needs a modern day adaption. Levine is an incredibly talented writer so it should be great.
I love that movie, and I love Bioshock. I now have high hopes for the remake.
That must be a lot of pressure.
This is pretty interesting. Levine does have experience with this sort of sci-fi premise, not to mention the fact that Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite are two of this generation's greatest games, so I have faith he'll pen a great script.
